A bead point in the context of tires refers to a feathered rubber extension found at the bead toe. This extension serves to protect the inner tube from chafing between the bead toes and the rim base. It acts as a cushioning barrier to prevent friction and abrasion that could otherwise damage the tube during the tire’s operation.
The bead point is particularly useful in situations where a flap (a separate rubber layer) is not used between the tube and the tire casing. By providing this protective layer, the bead point helps to extend the life of the inner tube and maintain the integrity of the tire assembly.
