Sagging

  1. An aggravated condition in paint application where a band of paint runs down the side of a vertical surface, creating unevenness. This can be caused by excessive build-up of paint, the use of slow-acting thinners, or overly slow movement of the spray gun during application.
  2. The straining of a ship’s hull, which causes the middle portion to sit lower than the bow and stern, typically due to excessive weight or loading.
