Salt Flat
A salt flat is a type of salt marsh typically found in desert regions, characterized by a crusty surface layer of salt deposits overlaying soft, unstable salt mud beneath. The surface may appear solid but often has unreliable consistency and poor bearing strength, making it hazardous for travel or construction. Salt flats are formed through the evaporation of mineral-rich water and are commonly found in arid basins where water collects temporarily and then dries up, leaving salt residues behind.
