Sand Scratch Swelling
A condition where solvents from the surface scratches cause the underlying old paint finish to swell. This can occur when the abrasives used during sanding disrupt the paint surface, and solvents in the new paint or products used during refinishing react with the older layers, leading to a distorted or raised appearance in the damaged areas. Proper preparation, including ensuring the surface is free from contaminants and using appropriate solvents, can help prevent this issue.
