Bellows can refer to several different types of devices:

  1. Mechanical Bellows:
  • A sealed, accordion-type chamber often filled with gas or under vacuum, which expands and contracts with temperature changes. It can also be used to provide a seal during the movement of mechanical parts. This type is commonly found in various mechanical and industrial applications, including air conditioning systems where it serves as a control device.
  1. Photographic Bellows:
  • A flexible, light-tight connection between parts of a camera or enlarger. This bellows allows for delicate adjustments, typically for focusing or adjusting the distance between lens and film plane. It prevents light leaks and maintains the integrity of the image.
  1. Industrial Bellows:
  • A corrugated cylindrical container designed to move or expand and contract in response to changes in pressure or to provide a seal during the movement of mechanical parts. These bellows are used in various industrial applications where flexibility and sealing properties are required, such as in machinery, piping systems, or even in certain types of valves.

Each type of bellows serves a specific purpose, whether it’s for mechanical movement, light-tightness in photography, or maintaining seals in industrial equipment.
