A “trunk rack” refers to two different types of attachments used for carrying items, particularly on vehicles:

  1. Luggage Rack for Trunks: This type of trunk rack is designed to be mounted onto the surface of the trunk of a vehicle, typically on the rear deck lid. It provides additional storage space for luggage, sports equipment, or other items. While some trunk racks may be purely decorative, others are functional and capable of securely holding items during transportation.
  2. Bicycle Carrying Attachment: Another type of trunk rack is specifically designed for carrying bicycles. These racks are mounted to the rear of a car or truck using straps or hooks and provide a convenient and relatively inexpensive way to transport bicycles. They typically attach to the trunk or rear hatch of the vehicle and can accommodate one or more bicycles, depending on the design.

Both types of trunk racks offer practical solutions for expanding the carrying capacity of vehicles, whether for luggage or bicycles. They are often preferred for their ease of installation and affordability compared to roof racks or hitch-mounted racks. However, it’s essential to ensure that any trunk rack is installed securely and does not interfere with the operation of the vehicle or compromise safety while driving.
